Hello All!

Thought I would send out one last quick update. My surgery went very well; the complication we had feared did NOT happen, and I am recovering comfortably at home. I should definitely be back for our final week together, and I am so grateful for that! I really didn't want to miss those last few days with your fabulous "almost middle schoolers". I just wanted to say that it is has been a great pleasure working with all of you this year and would like to thank you for making my first year as fifth grade teacher so great! I have truly enjoyed your children and wish them the best of luck as they move on to 6th grade.

It sounds like the weather held out for Track and Field Day and everything went great. Mrs. Bissell reports that students did a great job and everyone seemed to enjoy the day. I know things will continue to go well this week in my absence:

This week in math we will begin unit 8: Applications of measurement, computation and graphing.

The spelling pretest will be on Monday and the final test will be on Friday. The worksheet will be due on Friday as well. Since I don't have access to my school computer files at the moment, I am not able to post the list the homework link to the left, but a paper  will be sent home on Monday.

In social studies we will be exploring more of the Revolution Era in the US, taking a look at women's roles in the creation of our country, the constitution, and the birth of our government with George Washington as our first president.

 NEWS AND INFORMATION:

Last Day of School Field Trip: to the New Prague Aquatic Center will be on May 30. The fifth grade will be spending the day there and we would love to have some parents volunteer to join us and help chaperone! Please let me know if you can join us. Students will need their swim suit, a towel, shorts/t-shirt/tennis shoes, sunscreen, and a sack lunch.  It is also helpful to bring a plastic bag for their wet suits and towels on the way home. School bag lunch forms for that trip were sent home today, May 10, and will be due back by Thursday, May 16. There is a cost of $2 per student for this trip which needs to be turned in by May 23.
