Get to know Mr. Phillips

We are fast approaching a new school year.  Here is a little background about me and my family. this will be my 6th year teaching at Raven Stream.  I have taught both 3rd and 4th grade. 4th grade is a great time, the kids are coming in eager to learn new things and by the end of the year they have developed into responsible and independent learners.  I love the growth that takes place during the year.  I also enjoy learning and have a passion to instill that love of learning in my students.  Last fall, I completed my master's degree in Educational Leadership through Saint Mary's and am currently taking classes to obtain my K-12 principal license.  I have aspirations of moving up and becoming a principal or AD.

I am a true Minnesotan at heart!  I grew up in Rosemount, Minnesota and graduated from Rosemount High School.  After high school, I attended the University of Wisconsin- La Crosse, where I received my degree in Education with a minor is Social Studies.  After graduation I moved back to Minnesota and married my wife, Alicia.  We met in college and got married in her hometown of Sparta, WI.  Yes, she is a Packer Fan, but I have forgiven her for that.  Alicia works as a registered dietitian for Park Nicollet at the Melrose Center in St. Louis Park.

We currently live in chaska, MN with our two daughters Harper and Reagan.  long with spending time with family and friends I enjoy camping, sports, reading, and being active.  Born and raised in Minnesota has made me a huge Viking and Gopher Fan.  I also like Duke Basketball, and long to go watch a game at Cameron Indoor Stadium.

Lastly, I love teaching and being in the classroom.  I truly feel that this is the best job in the world!  Be sure to take a look at the Classroom Expectations and Class Policies as they will outline what you can anticipate this school year and how we are all going to act in our classroom.  Please feel free to contact me with any concerns or questions that may arise. Have a great rest of your summer and see you on the first day of School!!
