    • If they can't tell you...
Raven Stream P.R.I.D.E is up and running at school! Students are able to earn tickets for showing P.R.I.D.E. (Prepared, Respectful, Inspired, Determined, Engaged). Teachers and all school staff will have tickets to hand out. When a student gets a ticket from an adult at school they will turn in the ticket to the container in the office and take a "I showed Raven Stream P.R.I.D.E. today" sticker to wear for the day. At the end of the month there will be a drawing of the tickets for that  month for Trojan prizes. Tickets will be gathered all year and a large drawing will  take place at the end of the year. If you see a student with a sticker on, ask them about their great day!!
  • Have you heard about Silver Readers?  Community members (especially the silver haired kind!) are invited to come and listen to first graders practice their reading skills each Thursday.  The time is 9:45 - 10:30 and three classes read each week so the kids get to read every other week.  Any volunteers can join us any week that works for them.  Invite your friends, family, and neighbors.

Reading homework includes reading a book at their level on Monday, Tuesday, and Thursday night.  Friday is a special reading homework night! Children will select a book from the classroom that they would like an adult at home to read to them.  Although the children are working hard to develop their own reading skills it is still important for them to hear good reading modeled for them.  This is also a special time to cuddle and enjoy reading with your child.  Spelling words should also be practiced each day.  Remember the Friday test will include two mystery words not on the list but words that follow the spelling rule for the week.
