If you haven’t already done so, please sign up for a conference.  Instructions were sent home with your child on Wednesday.  Conferences dates are November 1st, 2nd, and 8th.  If you need help signing up, please let us know.  Thank you!

Last Wednesday Viktor the Viking visited Raven Stream to talk about bullying.  The kids learned about “STOP” which stands for Stand up to bullying, Take appropriate action, Open up to an adult, and Protect yourself and others.  The kids enjoyed the presentation and learned an important message.

The Harvest Day parade will be on Wednesday, October 31st at 2:00.    Our 5th grade tradition will continue with 50s costumes.  Students will be able to wear 50s attire. They should wear their costumes to school since we won’t have time to change into them.  No other costumes will be permitted.  Thank you!

There will not be a newsletter next week.  Enjoy the MEA break!

Weekly Accomplishments:

Math: We learned different ways to express values – standard notation, expanded notation, and exponential notation.

Reading: We read “Saving America’s Wolves” in the StoryWorks magazine.  We worked on retelling the story with important information in the correct order.  This article also supported our topics in science this week.

Science / Health: We learned about feeding relationships in ecosystems.  We also discussed how one little change can have a big impact on the ecosystem.

Social Studies: We started our Native Americans unit with a focus on the Mayans, Aztecs, and Incas.

Writing: We learned about legal and illegal drugs.  We also discussed how to read a prescription bottle of medicine.
